Privacy policy

The short version
Goodtern is built to know as little about you as possible. No account is required, we don't sell data, and your preferences live in your own browser — not on our servers.
What we store, and where
Your preference sliders, saved trips, saved travellers and theme choice are stored in your browser's local storage on your device by default. Clearing your browser data removes them completely.
Accounts & cross-device sync
Signing in is optional. If you create an account (handled by our auth provider, Clerk), your saved travellers and preferences are synced to your account so they follow you across devices. This includes the passenger details you choose to save — names, dates of birth and contact details — which you can edit or delete any time on your profile page. We never store payment card details.
The AI assistant
When you message the assistant, your message, your current preference settings and a summary of the flights on screen are sent to our server and forwarded to Anthropic (the AI provider) to generate a reply. Don't include personal details you wouldn't want processed. We don't use your messages to identify you, and we don't store chat history server-side.
Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics, which is cookie-free and collects anonymous, aggregated page-view data (no cross-site tracking, no personal profiles). That's why you don't see a cookie banner — there are no tracking cookies to consent to.
Hosting and logs
The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes standard technical request data (such as IP addresses) to serve the site and protect it from abuse, including our rate-limiting. This data is not used to identify you.
Outbound links
"View deal" links take you to third-party sites (e.g. flight booking services) that have their own privacy policies. Some of these may be affiliate links, meaning we can earn a commission on bookings at no extra cost to you.
Booking & payment data
If you book a flight, the passenger details you enter (names, dates of birth, contact details) are sent to the airline through our booking provider (Duffel) to issue your ticket. Card payments are processed by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number. We keep a record of your booking reference and the amount charged.
Your rights & contact
Since we hold essentially no personal data about you, most data requests can be satisfied by clearing your browser storage. For anything else, contact us at hello@goodtern.example (update this address before launch).
